Humanitarian aid in cooperation with CESCI and Tisza EGTC

In 2020, a consortium from five countries led by the Central European Support Service for Cross-border Initiatives (CESCI) successfully applied for the International Visegrad Fund. The members of the consortium are CESCI, the Technical University of Liberec, the Polish Academy of Sciences, the University of Eperjes, the National University of Uzhhorod and the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences.

The main objective of the project is to build capacity of the organisations operating along Ukraine’s western border and to develop an appropriate national legal framework for cross-border cooperation in Ukraine.

Unfortunately, the project could only be partially implemented due to the war situation in Ukraine, and the partners have requested the Visegrad Fund to allow using the remaining amount of the grant awarded for collection and transport of humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

The request was approved by the Visegrad Fund Secretariat. With the full support of the partners, CESCI has undertaken to assist in the preparation and delivery of the aid consignment to Ukraine. Gyula Ocskay, Secretary General of CESCI, thanks to his sacrificial work, 6.9 tons of donations were collected, mainly consisting of long-lasting food. The donation was delivered by CESCI in cooperation with Tisza EGTC to the Transcarpathian County Council on 11 April 2022.

Thanks very much for the cooperation of all partners and the generous contribution of the Visegrad Fund. For Ukraine, any support is extremly important in this difficult situation.
